Regulation

When not regulated properly, playing can become very frustrating as you become limited and easily fatigued by the instrument’s poor response. Having your piano properly regulated will ensure that each key responds uniformly, allowing for a more consistent, enjoyable and reliable playing experience.

Regulation refers to the meticulous adjustments of all mechanical aspects of the piano. Your piano is comprised of hundreds of moving parts and as they wear through regular use, they need to be regulated occasionally back to their original specifications to achieve a consistent and precise touch.

The recommended frequency of a complete regulation job is about once every 3 years (more or less depending on usage), doing so will also minimize uneven wear on the piano’s internal parts, greatly prolonging the instrument’s lifespan.
